Mazarron Council voices concern over imminent Camposol notification letters
The notification letters are related to Mazarrón Council’s move to complete the Camposol urbanisation
The Camposol Business Association were invited to meet with Mazarrón Council on March 20 for further information regarding the change of management system to begin the procedure of completing Camposol and spoke to Jesús García, Councillor for the Environment and Local Development, a council coordinator and a coordinator from the town planning department.
It was explained that the notification letters, a legal requirement for the takeover process, would be issued shortly, but concern was raised that homeowners should be aware that unscrupulous individuals may try to cash in on the process. Because of the scale of the task of endeavouring to contact as many homeowners as possible on the Camposol urbanisation, which will include absent owners as well as full time residents, the letters may be distributed by Council authorised personnel on a door-to-door basis. The council are aware that this could offer an opportunity for shady characters to attempt to use the operation to extort money.
The council stressed that the notification procedure was free to the home owners and no charge or fees would be asked for, adding that anyone asking for money in return for the notification letters should not be entertained.
The council also clarified that the response period for confirmation of notification and any observations was not universal, but would be on an individual basis dependent on the date of notification to the homeowner. It is accepted that the notification procedure is a mammoth task and in all probability will not reach every interested party. So, once the council has exhausted the avenues of communication, an announcement will be published through the regional government confirming the change of management system.
The change of management system for Sector A and Sectors B,C,D,F of the Camposol urbanisation is the initial public step towards abandoning the compensation system, which was reliant on the now defunct developer Justo y Manoli SL (a subsidiary of conglomerate Grupo MASA), to the cooperation system which entails Mazarrón Council to assume the role of developer and start planning the works required to complete all sectors of the development.
Fundamentally, changing the management system is the only viable course of action available which complies with Murcia regional urban planning laws. This action also ties in with the Camposol planning modifications announced by Mazarrón Council recently.
