Fire brigade and specialist forest firefighters tackle huge blaze creeping closer to Camposol
Firefighters were called out on Monday afternoon to a large blaze on agricultural ground initially on a hill side in El Saladillo, of which the Camposol development forms the majority. The blaze continued to spread at one time reported to be burning in the central reservation of the RM-3: helicopters were called in and started dropping large buckets of water on the flames.
It is thought the fire originated near an electricity pylon, with the current weather conditions and tinder dry vegetation fire can start with little encouragement, a fact that has spurred councils to cut back roadside overgrowth.
Meanwhile Iberdrola have cut the power supply to the lines threatened.
