Work continues on new Camposol Sector D exercise area
The new exercise area is next to the football pitch on Camposol’s Sector D
The initial work to clear the ground ready for the contruction of the new exercise area in Camposol Sector D started at the end of March after it was voted the winning proposal in last Novembers’ municipality-wide Budget Participation Scheme. The completion and opening of the runner up in the competition, another Campsol proposal for a Dog park on Sector A, have already taken place.
After a lull in activity in the construction of the exercise area while contractors finished work in Puerto de Mazarrón, work has now started in earnest with the laying and compacting of base aggregate and edging stones.
The exercise area will contain various pieces of calisthenics equipment to promote cardio-vascular health including an abdominal bench, a rowing machine, a waist twist, elliptical exercise apparatus plus a table tennis area and other equipment with a total budget of 39,923.23 + IVA.
Achieving the first two places in the budget participation competition was quite a feat for the urbanisation considering the two projects were competing with 34 other proposed projects spread around other parts of the municipality.
Some point out that streetlighting and asphalting main roads should be the priority, but these projects would cost far in excess of the competition’s budget allowances. It is also the case that a project is in the tendering process for the asphalting of the dual carriage way through Sectors C and D, and work has already started on a municipality-wide streetlighting improvement project including Camposol where many streets on Sector C North that lacked lighting now have LED lights to replace inoperative lamps.
Mazarrón Councillor for Camposol Silvana Buxton, has commented “it is great that the 2 Camposol proposals won and although there may be other bigger issues on the urbanisation they are significant and positive additions to the area and will prove useful to residents and visitors in Camposol”.
