Snack attack: Aldi Spain recalls contaminated crisps
The salty treats have been distributed in supermarkets across Spain
Aldi Spain has announced a recall of several types of potato chips due to the possible presence of fragments of plastic fibres.
The affected products include 'Onduladas', 'Onduladas sabor jamón', 'Campesinas' and 'Al punto de sal' crisps from the 'Sun Snacks' brand with a best-before date between December 29, 2024 and January 20, 2025.
The supermarket chain has informed its customers that the products may contain fragments of plastic fibres, which could pose a health risk to consumers. As a precautionary measure, Aldi has decided to withdraw all units of the affected products from sale.
If you have purchased any of the affected products, Aldi advises you not to consume them. Instead, you can return them to the store where you purchased them and receive a full refund.
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has also recommended that people who have products affected by this alert in their homes refrain from consuming them.
According to available information, these snacks have been distributed to Aldi supermarkets in all autonomous communities in Spain with the exception of the city of Ceuta.
The German chain has also issued an urgent recall of Cooked Pig’s Trotters (Manos De Cerdo Cocidas) from the ‘El Mercado’ brand due to the possible presence of Listeria.
This product should not be eaten. Customers can return it to their local Aldi for a full refund.
If you have any concerns or questions about a product recall, you can contact Aldi's customer service department or visit their website for more information.
They can also be reached by phone on 900 902 466.
Last month, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) issued a health alert ordering the urgent withdrawal of two batches of Ibuprofen after both drugs failed quality controls.
