Another seven beaches in Águilas, Cartagena and San Javier have yellow flags

The beach surveillance posts of Plan Copla are flying red flags prohibiting bathing on five beaches on the Mediterranean side of La Manga, in the municipality of San Javier this Tuesday.
A further seven beaches in Águilas, Cartagena and San Javier have the yellow flag to warn swimmers to exercise caution while in the water, according to sources from the Emergency Coordination Centre.
Specifically, in San Javier the red flag is flying on the beaches of Banco del Tabal (south and north), Pedrucho (south and north) and Arenal sur; while there is a yellow flag on the beach of Arenal norte.
Likewise, in Águilas the yellow flag is flying on the beach of Matalentisco; while in Cartagena there is a yellow flag on the beaches of Monteblanco, Galúa, Las Sirenas, Entremares and Calblanque.

As well as bathing in supervised areas, they stress it is important to leave the water immediately if you feel dizzy, cramps or any other indisposition, and to be careful when sunbathing, using a suitable sunscreen, staying hydrated and paying special attention to children and the elderly.
An elderly woman died whilst bathing at Castillicos beach in Santiago de la Ribera this weekend and a week ago a 75-year-old man drowned on the Playa de los Nietos beach in Cartagena.
It was revealed this week that drowning was the third leading cause of death in Spain due to external or accidental causes in 2020.
