Intense heat returns with thunderstorms possible inland: Alicante weather forecast July 13-16
Temperatures are on the rise again, with some areas reaching up to 40°C before the chance of thunderstorms develops from Wednesday

The week kicks off with rising temperatures and more heat alerts across Alicante province. Temperatures are expected to creep back up over the coming days and will reach around 40°C in some inland areas by midweek. The humidity will make it feel even warmer, making the heat more uncomfortable to deal with, especially along the coast. Let's take a look at what we can expect over the coming days.
Monday July 13
Monday will be another mostly sunny day across Alicante province, although there could be a little cloud around first thing in the morning. Temperatures are on the rise, especially across the north of the province, with highs of 36°C in Alcoy, 35°C in Orihuela and 34°C in Elche and Dénia, while Alicante city reaches a slightly cooler 32°C.
Winds will stay light before an easterly to south-easterly breeze develops during the afternoon.
Tuesday July 14
Tuesday brings another day of sunshine and the heat continues to build. Inland areas will see the biggest jump in temperatures, with Alcoy climbing to 39°C, while Orihuela reaches 35°C, Elche and Dénia 34°C, and Alicante city 32°C.
Winds will stay light for much of the day before an easterly breeze picks up during the afternoon.
Wednesday July 15
The hottest day of the week is expected on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching around 40°C in Alcoy and Orihuela. Elche climbs to 38°C, Dénia to 36°C, while Alicante city reaches 34°C. There will still be plenty of sunshine, but cloud will increase through the day and there's a chance of a few scattered showers and thunderstorms developing inland during the afternoon.
Winds will be light before an easterly to south-easterly breeze develops later in the day.
Thursday July 16
Thursday will be pretty similar, with sunny spells and some cloud, along with another chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms inland. Although temperatures ease slightly in some areas, it will still be another very hot day, with highs of 40°C in Orihuela, 39°C in Alcoy, 38°C in Elche, and 35°C in Alicante and Dénia.
Light winds will become easterly during the afternoon, bringing a moderate sea breeze to coastal areas.
As temperatures continue to climb this week, it's worth keeping an eye on the latest heat alerts by following official weather updates and your local town hall's social media channels or website. The hotter, drier conditions also increase the risk of wildfires, so take extra care if you're spending time outdoors. Avoid lighting barbecues or fires in unauthorised areas, never throw cigarette ends from a vehicle, and don't leave glass or rubbish behind in the countryside. If you're out in the heat, drink plenty of water, stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day where possible, wear light clothing and don't forget sunscreen.
