Green Fingers Camposol: A month of hard work and changing seasons
The community group had a busy January keeping Camposol Sector C looking its best
After a well-earned break at the start of the year, the Green Fingers Camposol maintenance team and volunteers were back in action on Wednesday January 8, ready to tackle another year of keeping Sector C looking its best.
January brought unpredictable weather, with temperatures swinging between a chilly -4°C and a balmy 24°C in just a matter of days. The sudden cold snap took its toll, claiming a few plants along the way.
However, a brief spell of rain helped restore some much-needed growth, even if it wasn’t quite enough.
Throughout the month, the team carried out a range of essential tasks, including weeding along the rambla road, replacing solar lights on the dual carriageway, tending to the memorial, litter picking and pruning the azaleas beside the Welcome Wall. And of course, the never-ending task of watering countless plants, trees and bushes continued.
On January 29, the volunteers were out again for their weekly tidy-up of Lower C. Alan and Andy took care of watering, while Paul2 and Kevin replaced the solar lights on the palm trees at the bottom of the dual carriageway.
Jan, Sandra and John2 focused on trimming plants and picking up litter near Calle Embalse del Judío and Jackie continued weeding at the Memorial Garden.
Meanwhile, Matt added more slate to the memorial after finishing his watering duties. John1, Kevin and Paddy were out collecting donations, raising an incredible 218 euros - vital funds that keep the project running.
The Green Fingers team extends a huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, effort and donations. Special thanks also go to Cats Bar Camposol and Angie, who generously provided breakfasts for the hardworking volunteers.
If you have a few hours to spare on a Wednesday morning, why not join the team? It’s a friendly, welcoming group and volunteers are only asked to do work suited to their abilities.
As always, “Everything we do is funded by you” and every bit of support makes a difference.
