Four Murcia beaches closed to swimmers as sea conditions turn treacherous on August 27
San Javier, Los Alcázares and San Pedro del Pinatar are the only municipalities with green flags across the board

Sea conditions have taken a turn for the worse across the Region of Murcia compared with yesterday, with the Copla Plan lifeguard stations flying four red flags and 25 yellow flags at beaches across the region this Thursday August 27.
San Javier, Los Alcázares and San Pedro del Pinatar are the only three municipalities where every beach is showing a green flag.
Swimming has been banned outright at four beaches. In Cartagena, that's El Corral and San Ginés, while in La Unión it's El Lastre and La Bahía I.
Yellow flags, which call for caution rather than an outright ban, are far more widespread, covering 25 beaches in total. In Águilas, these are Calabardina, La Colonia, La Cabaña, Poniente I, Las Delicias II, Casica Verde and Matalentisco. Cartagena has the most affected beaches with eight under caution, Calblanque, Cala del Barco, Cala Cortina, El Portús, La Azohía at both El Cuartel and Chapineta, San Ginés, Isla Plana and Cala Reona. In Lorca, only Calnegre beach carries a yellow warning, while Mazarrón also has a large number under caution, including El Mojón, La Reya, both parts of Bolnuevo, La Pava, Nares, Percheles, Castellar and Moreras.
A red flag means swimming is banned due to a serious risk to health, while a yellow flag is a call for caution. Under a yellow warning, swimmers should stick close to the shore, follow any instructions from lifeguards and keep checking conditions regularly by calling 112.
