Emergency aid for Murcia residents and businesses affected by storms and fires
The Spanish Government has approved an emergency decree to offer financial help to the Region of Murcia

People affected by the storms that hit the Region of Murcia in July will now be able to access help thanks to an emergency decree approved by the Spanish government. The support will cover everything from the hailstorms at the end of July that battered the northwest to the fires that recently broke out in Abarán and Cieza.
Those impacted by the storm on July 24 and the Sierra del Oro fire in Abarán on August 18 are eligible for the measures included in this decree. The declaration applies to all autonomous communities, except the Basque Country and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
So far this summer, Spain has been ravaged by an incredible 113 wildfires and the government has pledged to provide all the necessary support to help the affected areas recover as quickly as possible.
In Murcia, the decree was activated not just for the recent fires in Cieza, Abarán and Caravaca de la Cruz. It also covers the heavy rains and hail that hit the northwest in July, causing severe damage in agricultural areas such as Moratalla, Calasparra, Caravaca and even San Pedro del Pinatar.
On July 24, the Region of Murcia's 112 Emergency Coordination Centre responded to 146 calls and managed 131 incidents linked to the storm.
The Council of Ministers' agreement will provide direct aid through the Ministry of the Interior for personal injury, housing, household goods, local government expenses and support for industrial, commercial and service establishments. It also covers individuals or legal entities that helped provide personnel or resources during the emergencies.
Beyond this, the government is offering additional measures through other ministries. These include tax benefits, labour and social security support, aid for local authorities and subsidies for damage to agriculture, livestock, forestry and aquaculture production.
Aid for material damage
Material damage grants are structured under Royal Decree 307/2005. Individuals, families, local authorities, companies or associations that provided help during the emergency can benefit.
The amounts vary depending on the damage. For example, grants cover up to €15,120 for the destruction of a primary residence, €10,320 for damage to half a home or €2,580 for the loss of essential belongings.
Subsidies for homeowners' associations can reach €9,224, depending on technical evaluations conducted by the Insurance Compensation Consortium.
