The Camposol urbanisation has been rocked by the shock killing of a woman by her partner this weekend
A 68-year-old British man on the Camposol urbanisation in Mazarrón has been arrested on suspicion of murdering of his partner, a 56-year-old British woman.
The incident took place at 1am in the early hours of Sunday morning, December 4, in a house located on Calle Lecrin on the Camposol development, Sector D.
When the officers arrived, alerted by a call to the 112 Emergency number, they found the body of the woman outside the house, with a blow to the head, while her partner was inside the house.
A neighbour of the couple was the one who alerted the Emergency Services that the woman was unconscious outside the house and was not breathing, and when the paramedics arrived they found that the victim was already dead and requested the presence of the Guardia Civil.
The officers arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of the murder, and he has been transferred to a court in Totana, where the judge is taking his statement to find out exactly what happened.
According to official sources, the man already had previous charges against him for domestic violence filed by the victim, and protective measures had been imposed.
However, these measures had been inactive since at least 2014 and since then there had been no more similar complaints from the victim. Unofficial sources, meanwhile, indicate that the couple had only moved to the Camposol area a few weeks earlier.
This latest case brings the number of woman killed in gender violence attacks in 2022 in Spain to 39, and is the second in the Region of Murcia this year.
