ARCHIVED - Camposol dual carriageway asphalting plan advances slowly

Tenders are received for the drafting of the project to asphalt Avenida de los Covachos in Camposol

The proposed work is included in a tender along with 3 other projects all situated in the Puerto de Mazarrón and is part of Mazarrón Council’s 10-million-euro “Mazarrón Urbano” urban renewal plan.

The planned project for the asphalting of the dual carriageway of Avenida de los Covachos from a point the bridge between sectors C & D to the end of the dual carriageway at the junction with Calle Babinas has been in the tendering process for nearly a year. After legal challenges from Council opposition parties PP and Ciudadanos and then the Murcia Association of Technical Engineers of Public Works were dismissed by the courts, the tendering process was back on track but with a significant delay.

The deadline for lodging tenders for the drafting contract was February 15, at which time 13 companies had submitted paperwork for the Camposol project. These will now be assessed and adjudicated by council technicians and legal advisors to decide on the successful bid.

After the contract for drafting the project is awarded the winning company will draw up plans for the work and these will be used as the blueprint for the next stage: putting the construction work out to tender. With the Municipal elections only 3 months away it is hoped that the process will have progressed as far as possible in the time remaining.
