Spectacular wingsuit flight over Castillo de Monteagudo in Murcia
Austrian pilot Lukas Loibl flies past the iconic hilltop castle near Murcia, reaching speeds of over 200kmh

A spectacular wingsuit flight over Castillo de Monteagudo, a hilltop castle about 5 kilometres northeast of Murcia city, recently drew plenty of attention.
The flight was carried out by Lukas Loibl on November 15, 2025. Lukas is a wingsuit pilot and athlete from Austria who is currently living in Murcia. He reached speeds of over 200kmh while flying close to the historic monument. He passed under the statue’s outstretched arm and glided along the ridge before landing safely in a designated area. Don’t try this at home folks! Wingsuit flying takes years of training and careful planning.
The idea came to him while travelling through the region. Seeing the castle rise sharply 149 metres above the surrounding valley, he wanted to show it from a completely different perspective.
“Castillo de Monteagudo is an incredibly powerful location,” says Loibl. “Its history and position above the valley make it a perfect place to combine human flight with cultural heritage in a respectful and visually striking way.”
The castle dates back to the 11th century, from the time of the region’s Islamic rulers, and was later linked to the Castilian crown in the 13th century. Its position on a rocky outcrop makes it a landmark across the Huerta de Murcia, with a commanding view over the surrounding area. The flight showed both Loibl’s combined high-level athletic performance and the castle’s dramatic location, giving a fresh view of a site that has shaped the landscape for centuries.
