A 42-year-old Romanian man has been arrested by the Policía Nacional in Murcia for allegedly stealing a handbag containing two valuable rings worth €18,000 from a golf course in Molina de Segura.
The theft took place at the Altorreal golf course, where the victim had momentarily left her handbag in a golf buggy while playing one of the holes. Upon returning to the buggy to continue her round, she discovered the bag had vanished.
According to the police report, the stolen handbag contained personal documents, cash, a mobile phone and two rings valued at €8,000 and €10,000.
Police launched an investigation after the woman filed a denuncia. By reviewing surveillance footage and conducting further inquiries, officers were able to identify the suspect, who was known to authorities for previous similar offences.
The man was located and arrested as part of a targeted police operation and has since been handed over to the judicial authorities.
