Repairs begin at Águilas fishing port after storm damage
A regional investment of €32,000 will restore part of the Águilas dock damaged this March

Repairs have started at the fishing port of Águilas following the storm damage suffered this March. The works are being carried out by the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure with a regional investment of €32,000.
The repairs are focusing on the harbour area, where rough seas and persistent rain delayed the start of work until now. Pablo Marín, General Director of the Coastline and Ports, said the project is expected to take two weeks, but efforts will be made to finish before Maundy Thursday, April 17, 2025.
The current plan takes into account a similar intervention in 2022, and checks have ruled out issues such as leaks from nearby utilities. The damage is again attributed to wave action, particularly in the dry dock area, where strong waves have exceeded the pier and damaged the pavement.
Work will be carried out along a 90-metre stretch of pavement. This will include lifting the affected section, excavating and backfilling the area, and restoring the surface.
