Nine new additions to the comprehensive guide of tourist quality in Águilas
A meeting was held by the Águilas Tourism Quality Board to discuss the quality of tourism in the town
Last week, a meeting of the Águilas Tourism Quality Board of the SICTED project (‘Sistema Integral de Calidad Turística Española en Destinos’ or Comprehensive System of Spanish Tourism Quality in Destinations) was held.
The meeting analysed the evolution of the SICTED project in the municipality, highlighting that, of the 40 participating establishments, 37 companies and services have passed the evaluation for the December 2024 Committee.
Regarding new distinctions, this year there have been 9 new additions, of which 7 have been distinguished, and the other two will go to the committee in 2025.
The meeting was attended by José Antonio Consentino, Councillor for Tourism; Eva Reverte, General Director of Competitiveness and Tourism Quality; Teresa Rodríguez, Head of the Tourism Department and responsible for Tourism Quality; Antonia Calvo, Tourism technician; Cayetano Ureña, external auditor of Tourism Quality; María José Serrano, representing Hosteáguilas and Lucía Díaz, representative of ACIA.
During this year, face-to-face training activities have not been carried out, but the establishments have been provided with the updated Águilas resource guide.
Regarding the planning of the SICTED Project in Águilas for 2025, it should be noted that work will continue with the special Instagram channel Tourism Quality, this is exclusive for SICTED Águilas, in order to promote those establishments adhering to the quality system.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
