Night Carnival display renewed in Aguilas as the festivities end for another year
The winners of the 2025 Night Carnival costume design competition were “Paco and Javi”
The end of the Carnival season in Águilas has been marked with the updating of the display in the bandstand-pergola-like structure known by locals as the “Jaula de Pájaros” (birdcage) to reflect the importance which has been gained by the annual “Night Carnival” event.
The structure has been used as a Carnival display space since 2023 and the winning Night Carnival costumes are placed on display here every year after the festivities have come to an end. This year’s winners were the figures of Javi and Paco, according to Councillor Cristóbal Casado, who was speaking at the presentation of the new display this week.
The event also paid tribute to the Carnival headgear created by students at the local Joaquín Tendero primary school, another annual competition which is among the many through which Carnival traditions are perpetuated in the educational centres in the municipality.
