Murcia's economy expected to grow faster than the Spanish average in 2026
Growth is expected to reach 2.5% in 2026, driven mainly by strong household spending, according to BBVA Research

According to forecasts from BBVA Research, Murcia's economy is expected to grow by 2.5% in 2026, slightly above the national average of 2.4%, with household spending playing an important role in supporting the economy.
Looking even further ahead though, the outlook does suggest a gradual slowdown in 2027, when growth is expected to ease to 1.9%, compared with 2.1% for Spain as a whole. Analysts say higher borrowing costs and weaker spending power could start to weigh on household spending, particularly in regions like Murcia, where growth depends more on domestic spending.
The report places Murcia among the stronger-performing regions in Spain over the next year, with growth still supported by household spending. However, it also points to a gradual slowdown after several years of strong expansion, with the Region having grown by 4.4% in 2024 and an estimated 3.1% in 2025.
BBVA also points to Murcia's role in exports, especially to countries in South America covered by trade agreements such as Mercosur, with the region benefiting from demand for its products in those markets.
On employment, the Region is expected to see growth of 2.8% in 2026, above the national average of 2.3%, before slowing to 1.7% in 2027.
