Murcia-Alicante border town rocked by earthquake
The 2.2 magnitude quake struck Hondón de los Frailes late on Monday night, August 25

Just a couple of weeks after the area was rocked by a swarm of 12 different earthquakes, the village of Hondón de los Frailes, located just a couple of kilometres from the Alicante-Murcia border, was shaken awake by another rumble on Monday night, August 25.
The latest earthquake, located in the Vinalopó Medio region of Alicante, occurred at 11.31pm and registered a magnitude of 2.2 on the Richter scale.
While this is considered quite mild, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) explained that it happened at a depth of zero kilometres just southwest of the village, meaning that many residents will have felt the tremor.
However, no damage or injury has been reported.
