Murcia weather forecast Aug 3-6: Orange heat warnings as temperatures soar this week
The mercury is set to peak above 40°C in parts of Murcia before dropping back into the high 30s
Weather alerts on Monday August 3
The Region of Murcia is heading back into another spell of intense summer heat, with temperatures expected to climb above 40°C in parts of the Vega del Segura before easing slightly later in the week. Sunshine will dominate every day, with no sign of any meaningful rain, and AEMET has already issued heat warnings for the start of the week.
Monday August 3
Monday will be hot and mostly sunny across the Region, with just a few patches of cloud developing during the afternoon. Inland areas, including Murcia city, are expected to reach 39°C, while coastal resorts such as Cartagena, Mazarrón and Águilas should remain a little cooler at around 31 to 35°C thanks to the sea breeze.
An orange weather warning is in force for the Vega del Segura between 1pm and 9pm, where temperatures could reach 40°C.
Tuesday August 4
On Tuesday, temperatures could reach 41°C in Murcia city and surrounding inland areas, with widespread sunshine from morning until evening. Coastal areas will also feel very warm, with highs in the low 30s.
AEMET has issued a yellow heat warning for the Vega del Segura as temperatures of up to 39°C are expected during the afternoon.
Wednesday August 5
The intense heat eases a little on Wednesday, although it will still be another very warm day across the Region of Murcia. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 37°C inland, with clear skies and light winds continuing.
There are currently no significant weather warnings beyond the heat easing slightly.
Thursday August 6
Little changes on Thursday, with plenty of sunshine and highs of around 37°C inland and 31 to 33°C along the coast. Overnight temperatures will remain around 24°C in many parts, bringing another tropical night for much of the Region.
The settled conditions are expected to continue into the weekend, with little chance of rain and temperatures remaining well above average for early August.
