Lorca asks for public opinion on new rules for balconies and building facades
The updated rules would ban items like laundry, gas bottles and mattresses from homes that can be seen from the street

The mayor of Lorca has announced the start of a public consultation to update the town’s rules on coexistence and antisocial behaviour. The aim is to set out clearer limits on what can be placed on balconies, facades and other areas of homes that can be seen from the street.
The current ordinance, in place since 2010, already allows fines, but the new version will go further. It will include specific rules on issues that neighbours often complain about, such as clothes hanging from balconies, old mattresses or gas bottles stored outside and shop signs attached to residential buildings.
According to the mayor, these problems spoil the image of Lorca, especially in the historic centre, and get in the way of plans to improve neighbourhoods across the municipality. The new rules are designed to make sure public spaces are safe, tidy and pleasant for everyone.
Residents and local organisations now have 10 working days to give their opinion through the town hall website or notice board before the draft is finalised.
