Half price water bills for pensioners in Los Alcazares
The Mar Menor municipality is also offering a 50% discount on rubbish collection
The Town Hall of Los Alcázares has delivered the welcome news that pensioners will continue to enjoy discounts on certain public services for another year. Throughout 2025, drinking water and sewage rates will remain 50% cheaper, as will household waste collection charges.
On announcing the news, mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Pérez Cervera, said he considers it vitally important to “continue supporting the group of pensioners with bonuses like these that will help them assume lighter expenses during the next year.”
Specifically, older people will only pay half the usual cost for the first 30m3 of water per quarter, and pensioners with habitual residence in the town for at least 2 years who are up to date with their fees for sewage, water and gas, will also benefit from the waste bonus.
There are also some financial requirements that people will need to meet to avail themselves of the discount.
The applicant must not have an income higher than the pension and the income of their family unit must not exceed the following amounts:
- For people living alone, the applicant must not receive a higher amount of pension than the current Interprofessional Minimum Wage (SMI) which is 1,134 euros.
- If the pensioner lives with one or more family members, the combined household income must not exceed one and a half monthly payments of the SMI (1,701 euros).
- Where there are three or more members in the family unit, the income must not exceed double the SMI (2,268 euros).
“Our commitment to pensioners remains firm and proof of this is the implementation of this municipal aid,” the mayor said.
Applications can be collected at the CISMMU (Avenida Ferrocarril s/n), at the Adolfo López Senior Citizens Centre (Calle Miguel Hernández s/n) or on the Town Council website www.losalcazares.es.
The deadline to submit these applications in the general registry of the Los Alcázares City Council will be open until December 31, 2024.
