Five arrested at Tenerife airport for using false passports to fly to the UK and Ireland
National Police detain five individuals attempting to board flights with falsified documents
The National Police in Spain have arrested five individuals at Spain’s Tenerife South Airport for attempting to travel to the United Kingdom and Ireland using forged documents. The detentions occurred as officers carried out routine border checks and identified passengers using falsified passports.The first arrest involved an Albanian national who was stopped while trying to board a flight to Dublin, Ireland, with counterfeit Greek documents. The next day, a woman of Iraqi nationality was detained after attempting to travel to London using forged Dutch documents.
A few hours later, another Albanian national was apprehended while trying to reach Dublin with fake Italian documents. The following day, two Iraqi men, both registered as refugees in Greece, were caught attempting to board a flight to London with falsified Danish documents.
According to a statement from the National Police, all five individuals have been presented before the relevant judicial authorities. Four are facing charges related to document forgery, while one has been accused of identity fraud.
Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine whether additional individuals are involved and to uncover any potential human trafficking networks.
