Dead dolphin found on the beach of El Lastre in La Unión
The remains were taken to the Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Silvestre de El Valle, in Murcia

A dolphin has been removed from where it washed up on the sand of the Playa del Lastre beach in La Unión, according to the local Civil Protection service.
Operators from the municipal cleaning service were the ones who raised the alarm after the discovery of the animal, which was removed from the Mediterranean beach and taken to the Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Silvestre (CRFS) El Valle, in central Murcia.
According to a first visual inspection, the animal was identified as a common dolphin (Delphinus delphi). So far, the specific causes of the animal’s death have not been revealed, with a necropsy expected to shed light on more details.

“We have taken the necessary steps and collaborated with the Fauna Recovery Centre in El Valle to extract and remove the dolphin,” read a statement from Protección Civil de La Unión. “They will proceed with the study.”
