Cartagena gives green light to replace ageing La Isleta bridge in La Manga
The project will replace the old crossing to the La Isleta Yacht Club with a safer, modern design

Plans to rebuild the La Isleta Bridge in La Manga are finally moving forward after Cartagena City Council approved the conditions needed to begin the project.
The agreement, which follows requirements set by the Directorate General of Coasts and the State Sea, clears the way for the long-awaited renovation of the bridge, which is currently in poor condition and serves as the only road access to the La Isleta Yacht Club.
The project will involve demolishing the existing structure and replacing it with a new concrete bridge designed to improve safety and accessibility for both drivers and pedestrians.
Once completed, the new bridge will measure 11.60 metres in length and 7.50 metres in width. It will include a single traffic lane, a pedestrian walkway and updated infrastructure, with all affected utilities being relocated as part of the works.
Construction is expected to take around 24 months, so it’s not a quick fix, but measures are being put in place to minimise disruption. A temporary footbridge will be installed to ensure pedestrian access is maintained throughout the build.
