A season of kindness: HELP Murcia Mar Menor and the community give back
With Christmas approaching, HELP Murcia Mar Menor has shared and received support that will make a real difference to families across the Region

In the run-up to Christmas, which is a time when many families feel the strain more than ever, HELP Murcia Mar Menor has marked the season with a heart-warming series of donations and acts of kindness that highlight the charity’s ongoing commitment to helping those most in need across the Region of Murcia.
€3,000 donation to AFAMUR
Last week, representatives from AFAMUR, the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Patients in the Region of Murcia, visited the HELP Outlet in San Javier to receive a generous €3,000 donation from the charity.
AFAMUR, founded in 1993, was the first association of its kind in the Region. It was created to support families who, at the time, had few resources or guidance when caring for relatives with Alzheimer’s. More than 30 years on, it continues to provide essential information, support and advocacy to those affected by the disease.
David and Maite from AFAMUR were welcomed by members of the HELP team, who expressed how proud they were to assist an organisation that plays such a vital role in supporting families facing one of life’s most difficult challenges.

Community fundraising at Amigos Bar in San Pedro

Another uplifting moment came courtesy of Amigos Bar in San Pedro and the 44 golfers who took part in their charity golf tournament on November 29. Their efforts raised an impressive €1,520, which they kindly donated to HELP Murcia Mar Menor.
Members of the HELP team visited the bar on December 5 to collect the funds and personally thank everyone involved.
This donation, raised purely through community spirit and a love of golf, will go directly towards helping vulnerable individuals and families in the Mar Menor area. The charity expressed sincere gratitude to the golfers and the team at Amigos Bar, noting that “this money will go a long way to helping others.”
Hundreds of cushions donated by Oceans Outdoor Furniture

Acts of generosity also came in the form of goods, with Oceans Outdoor Furniture donating hundreds of outdoor cushions to the HELP Outlet.
What started as a single delivery soon turned into five car-loads of brand-new cushions – a surprise that left the volunteers overwhelmed with gratitude. Through sales at the Outlet, these donations have already helped raise more than €3,000 for the charity.
Debbie and the entire HELP team shared their heartfelt thanks, noting that contributions like this not only raise vital funds but also give the community high-quality items at affordable prices.
Continuing a legacy of support
Founded in 2002, HELP Murcia Mar Menor continues to live up to its mission of providing support, information and resources to people in need across the Region of Murcia. The charity operates entirely through voluntary contributions, community fundraising and the hard work of its dedicated volunteers.
Anyone wishing to support HELP’s work can visit the office in Los Alcázares or drop into the Outlet on Avenida de la Unión 57 in San Javier. Open Monday to Friday from 10am to 1.30pm, the Outlet offers everything from clothing and household items to furniture and gifts. Deliveries and collections can be arranged on Wednesdays and Thursdays with prior notice.
As the festive season approaches, HELP Murcia Mar Menor extends its warmest thanks to the organisations, residents and volunteers whose kindness and generosity keep the charity thriving. Their contributions – whether financial, practical or through giving time – make a real, measurable difference in the lives of those who need it most.
