VIDEO: Dolphin sighting near La Manga del Mar Menor
The images of the cetacean were captured very close to Isla Grosa and the islet of El Farallón
This Wednesday, May 8, some people sailing in the Mediterranean Sea just off the coast of La Manga del Mar Menor recorded a video of an extraordinarily beautiful discovery they saw.
Shared on the MeteOrihuela social media account, the video shows a bottlenose dolphin swimming very close to La Manga, in the area around the Isla Grosa and the islet of El Farallón, belonging to the municipality of San Javier.

The sailors were surprised to find the animal swimming so close to them, although they are not uncommon in the Mediterranean. Mostly, though, this species, Tursiops truncates, is more usually seen in the Black Sea, the Red Sea and the Gulf of California.
This is not the first time bottlenose dolphins have been sighted in these parts. In 2022, a swimmer found one swimming very close to the shore of Isla Grosa, and in 2021 several groups of whales and dolphins were seen in the Bay of Mazarrón.
