The Almería town of Vera is proving that its beaches are not just for summer. As part of an initiative going under the name of ‘Your winter beaches’, locals recently took part in a relaxing yet invigorating outdoor yoga session by the sea, combining fresh air, gentle exercise and a welcoming community atmosphere.

 

Held in February to coincide with the start of the Carnival celebrations, the session offered participants the chance to focus on wellbeing while enjoying the natural beauty of the Mediterranean coastline. The event is one of many leisure activities organised throughout the year in Vera, catering for a wide range of tastes and age groups.

 

Open-air yoga has also become a regular feature on the beaches of nearby Mojácar, where similar sessions, often on a larger scale, attract both residents and winter visitors.

 

With its mild climate and vibrant community spirit, the Poniente area of Almería continues to show why it is such an appealing place to live all year round or to enjoy a winter break by the sea.
