Unsettled weather continues: Spain weather forecast June 10-13
A new Atlantic front will prolong the storms in Spain for another few days
Weather warnings for heavy rain and storms on Monday
The thunderstorms and heavy rain brought to many parts of Spain over the weekend courtesy of a DANA (Isolated High Level Depression) will continue at least until the middle of this week, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Although the worst of the DANA passed by on Sunday June 9, it will be replaced by a northern air low and a high trough, which will combine to prolong the showers and storms in large areas of the country. The temperatures will also take a huge dip in the middle of the week in most parts of Spain.
Monday June 10
Aemet has forecast very heavy rain in the likes of Extremadura, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalucía, inland Valencia and Murcia on Monday and several weather warnings have been issued for storms and driving winds.
After a hit-and-miss weekend, the day-time temperatures will generally fall again in most of eastern and southern Spain, although the evenings will start getting warmer.
Orange weather alert for storms: Valencian Community (from midday).
Yellow weather alert for storms: Andalucía, Aragon, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Madrid, Region of Murcia.
Tuesday June 11
Unstable weather will continue in the southeast and extreme north of Spain, where widespread showers and cloudy skies are forecast. The cloud cover will become heavier towards the afternoon and the rain will intensify and possibly develop into storms.
The rain will also bring a decrease in temperatures along the Mediterranean coast, particularly in inland areas of the southeast, although the mercury will continue to climb in most of central Spain.
Yellow weather alert for storms: Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Region of Murcia, Valencian Community.
Wednesday June 12
Wednesday will again be very overcast and wet in the northeast and southeast, and the widespread rain will be stormy at times. This rainfall could spread, albeit more weakly, to other parts of Spain.
Temperatures are expected to fall in the Pyrenees, the Balearic Islands and the extreme north but the rest of the country should continue the trend of previous days.
Thursday June 13
With a margin of uncertainty, the weather should begin to settle by Thursday, although the skies will still be largely cloudy throughout. The east of the country will be the most overcast, and here there’s still a good chance of scattered showers.
The mercury will begin to creep up once more, particularly in the central north, while no major changes are expected in night-time temperatures.
