Two major crashes cause delays on roads around Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja

Traffic is slow on the N-332, while roadworks and further incidents are affecting the AP-7, A-7 and A-31

Drivers heading out around southern Alicante are being warned to allow extra time, with several accidents and other traffic problems reported across the Province. The busiest areas include the N-332 around Orihuela and Torrevieja, while incidents and roadworks are also affecting the AP-7, A-7 and other main routes.

The latest information from the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) shows that traffic is particularly slow on the N-332 through Torrevieja.

N-332 and CV-95 affected by separate accidents

One of the main problems is on the N-332 at Orihuela, where an accident was reported at kilometre 49.9 shortly before 10:00am. The incident is affecting traffic in the direction of the lower kilometre numbers. Another crash was reported earlier on the CV-95 at kilometre 25.2, on the approach to Orihuela. The DGT recorded the incident at 8.14 am.

There are currently no further details available about how the accidents happened or whether anyone was injured. A separate accident was also reported on the CV-900 in Callosa de Segura, adding to the disruption in the area.

Meanwhile, the N-332 through Torrevieja is seeing slow-moving traffic between kilometres 54 and 57.8. The problem is affecting both directions and all lanes, with the warning first recorded at 7.53am.

Roadworks are adding to the morning delays

Accidents aren't the only problem for drivers today, with roadworks causing restrictions on several important routes. On the A-70 between Alicante and Elche, mobile roadworks are affecting the hard shoulder over a section of the road.

The AP-7 between Alicante and Agost is also affected by ongoing works, with lane closures in both directions and a reversible lane being used on part of the route. Further north, restrictions have been reported on sections of the AP-7 around Calp and Altea, while the N-332 in Benidorm is also affected by lane closures.

The DGT is reporting several other incidents involving stopped vehicles and obstacles on the A-70, AP-7, A-7 and A-31.

Traffic conditions can change quickly as accidents are cleared and vehicles are moved, but anyone travelling through southern Alicante this morning should expect some extra time on the road.
