Two earthquakes in Cartagena this morning
Cartagena recorded two earthquakes in the early hours while most people were sleeping

Cartagena recorded two earthquakes in the early hours of this Friday morning, May 31, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The first, with a recorded magnitude of 2.2 on the Richter scale, took place at around 2.50am with its epicentre in the La Palma district of the municipality of Cartagena and a depth of two kilometres.
Barely two hours later, at around 4.50am, another earthquake was recorded to the north of Cartagena with a magnitude of 1.6.
Small quakes like this one measuring less than 2.5 on the Richter scale are a common occurrence and oftentimes go unnoticed by the general population, especially if they happen while most people are tucked up asleep in their beds!
