The place in Spain which reached 27 degrees while UK was snowed under this week
The Canary Island sunshine contrasted sharply with freezing British weather at the start of this week
While parts of the United Kingdom shivered under snow, ice and travel disruption this Monday January 6, there was one place in Spain that had temperatures that would make a British summertime jealous!
The Canary Island of Tenerife registered highs of 27.1°C during the day on Monday, offering a stark contrast to the wintry chaos in the UK, where heavy snow forced airport closures and flight cancellations.
According to the UK’s Met Office, widespread snow and ice warnings covered Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and parts of England, with severe weather causing delays for flights to Spain.
It should be mentioned that, while the Canaries had a lovely Three Kings Day to start the year, the north and centre of mainland Spain have received rain and strong winds this week.
In the southern ski resort of the Sierra Nevada, temperatures of -10.3°C were registered on Monday 6, making it the coldest place in Spain for the day.
