Temperatures rise as August arrives: Alicante weekend weather forecast July 31-August 3
Head to the coast this weekend for mostly clear skies and temperatures of around 30ºC!
The sunshine reigns this afternoon
The relatively mild summer weather we have been enjoying in the province of Alicante since last Thursday night’s storms will give way over the next few days to gradually increasing heat as we move into August, according to the State Meteorology Agency (Aemet).
Temperatures this Thursday July 31 are set to remain more or less unchanged, with a light easterly breeze along the coast with intervals of moderate breezes in the second half of the day.
This means highs of between 29ºC and 32ºC, with the coolest places in the north of the province and the hottest in the south.
Minimums are 20-21ºC, rising to 23ºC in Alicante city and dropping to 17ºC inland in Alcoy.
Winds will be light around the rest of Alicante province, from variable directions in the morning and more from the east in the afternoon.
Clouds to gather on Friday evening
As we enter August on Friday 1, skies will be mostly clear but cloudiness will increase inland in the afternoon and in the north of the province during the evening.
Temperatures will start creeping up, hitting 32ºC in Alcoy and Elche, and 33ºC in Orihuela city, but staying around 29ºC along the coast, while the nights will remain mostly the same.
The light, variable breezes will continue, predominantly from the east in the second half of the day.
Almost no breeze is expected on Saturday
The skies are set to be similar over the weekend, albeit less cloudy in the afternoons in the north and inland, but slightly more so in the south.
Temperatures on both Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 are more likely to hit 30ºC along the coast, peaking inland at 33-34ºC and up to 35ºC in Orihuela city.
There is expected to be little to no wind for most of Saturday, even along the coast, where breezes may reach 10km/h on Sunday.
Maximum and minimum temperatures for Sunday
Temperatures are expected to continue to rise into next week, only slightly on the coast but up to as much as 38ºC on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 in inland places such as Orihuela city and Villena.
