Storm Benjamin is on the way: Spain weather forecast October 23-26
The worst of the weather will hit northern Spain, but the rain will spread to the south over the weekend

Weather alerts activated on Thursday October 23
October continues to be a game of two weather halves this coming weekend, with torrential rain, driving winds and severe warnings in the north of Spain, while the south basks in an unexpected autumn heatwave. However, the playing field is set to even out over the next couple of days with the arrival of storm Benjamin, which will spread thundery downpours and strong gusts along the Mediterranean coast.
Our neighbours over in France will bear the brunt, but a front associated with Benjamin will batter parts of Spain too.
Thursday October 23

This Thursday October 23 will be the worst day of the week for northern and western Spain, where the rain will be torrential, gusts could exceed 70-100 km/h and waves along the northern coasts will be intense.
The front will weaken and the rains will begin to subside Thursday afternoon. However, patchy, light rain is still possible in parts of the central and eastern interior.
Red weather alerts have been activated in Cantabria and the Basque Country, while orange and yellow warning have been extended throughout Spain, including the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community.
Friday October 24

Most of the weather alerts have been removed for Friday, save a couple of yellow warnings in the far north for rough seas. In the south, the day will be bright and sunny and temperatures will start to climb, reaching the low to mid-30s in Murcia and many parts of Andalucia.
Saturday October 25

Benjamin’s path is a bit uncertain on Saturday but at the moment, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is forecasting more showers and occasional downpours in the north of Spain, and plenty of sunshine in the south. However, there is a chance of some afternoon showers pretty much everywhere except the southeast.
Daytime temperatures will continue to inch up in southern Spain.
Sunday October 26

The weather front is finally expected to move east on Sunday, bringing lots of rain to previously dry areas like Alicante and Murcia. It will be cloudy or overcast earlier in the day but we should see some sunny spells in the afternoon.
Widespread temperature drops are expected across mainland Span and the Balearic Islands.
