Spanish conversation group starts at Camposol Social Centre
Are you learning Spanish but don’t get chance to use it? Here’s your chance with a new free Spanish chat group meeting at Camposol Social Centre
For people who are learning Spanish but find it difficult to be in situations to practise what they’ve learnt, particularly on Camposol where English is the main spoken language. The Camposol 2025 Group and Camposol Free Community Sports have teamed up to organise Spanish conversation sessions at the Camposol Social Centre, Calle Jara, Camposol Sector B, on Tuesdays between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm - and the good news is it’s FREE!
Spanish chat group
The organisers have now received official permission from Mazarrón Council to use the social sector on Sector B to hold our Spanish-speaking group between 2.30 pm and 4.00 pm each Tuesday. The first planned session was held on Tuesday, February 6.
Just a reminder that these are not Spanish classes, they are sessions being organised to give an opportunity for those that have been or are learning Spanish to practise what they have learned.
About 50 people expressed an interest when the idea was first circulated at the end of last year.
The first session was a “getting to know you” exercise, where the organisers tried to put people in small groups that can communicate with each other. If you plan to come along, please be ready to introduce yourself and tell a bit about you and your knowledge of Spanish. In Spanish of course. There are some Spanish games like Guess Who, shared by the Camposol Free Community Sports group, so there is the chance to have something different than just chatting.
If you are planning to come along, please either reply on the Camposol 2025 facebook page, so the organisers have some idea of numbers. Once up and running, a WhatsApp group will be created. Any questions, please ask?
Spanish Group first meeting
The organisers would like to thank all those that turned up for the first group meeting for people that want to practice speaking Spanish.
There was a good cross-section of nationalities in what was very much a getting to know you session. Good use was made of the Spanish board games from the CFCS group and it is hoped to add to these as the week’s progress.
The next session will be at 2:30 pm on Tuesday 13th February at the Social Centre on B Sector, Camposol and anyone is welcome to come along. There are all levels of language knowledge from beginners to advanced. People are put together from the same level, so don’t be shy, come along and have a go. It is not a language class, just the chance to practice what you know, meet people and hopefully improve your Spanish through communication.
