September 11 to October 12 Exhibition of historic paintings in San Pedro del Pinatar

150 años de Pintura Murciana at the Museo Municipal Palacio Barón Benifayó

Running until 12th October, the exhibition “150 años de Pintura Murciana” at the Museo Municipal Palacio Barón Benifayó in San Pedro del Pinatar shows is through images the transformation of the Region of Murcia from the late 19^th century to today at the same time with a brief overview of how the art of painting has evolved during that time.

The selection of works allows us to see changes not only in the landscape of Murcia, but also in artistic techniques and aesthetic ideals. In 1850 painting was considered an academic pursuit dominated by realism, but since then this has been challenged in many different ways as artists explored new ideas throughout the late 19^th century and throughout the 20^th.

The exhibition can be visited on Tuesday to Saturday mornings from 10.00 to 14.00 and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 17.00 to 19.00.
