New car park to ease congestion in Murcia's Ronda Sur

The newly announced car park will add 300 parking spaces in the capital

Murcia City Council has announced the construction of a new car park in Ronda Sur, part of a broader plan to reduce congestion in the city. The project was presented this Tuesday July 22 by José Francisco Muñoz, the councillor for Mobility, at the headquarters of the Municipal Urban Development Company (Urbamusa).

Located just one kilometre from the El Carmen intermodal train and bus station, the facility will offer easy access to local rail, high-speed trains, buses and trams.

The car park will occupy 7,000m2 of the 12,000-square-metre plot, providing 300 standard-sized spaces, with the remaining land allocated to complementary services.

Fees will match those of other municipal car parks, set at €0.50 per hour with a daily maximum of €3. Long-term passes will also be available to suit local residents and employees, particularly those working at the nearby Mesa del Castillo Hospital and nearby schools.

The new car park is part of a wider strategy that includes planned north and south transport stops, collectively adding over 700 parking spaces and aiming to improve mobility across the capital.
