Ministry invest 18.5 million to reduce noise of A-30 as it passes through Murcia
Residents of Murcia see the end of noise pollution from the motorway
The Ministry of Transport has given the green light to the building of 5 kilometres of acoustic screens on a 10km stretch of the road that runs through Murcia.
The acoustic screens, whose height vary from 4.5 to 6 metres, are being placed at the top of Terra Natura, close to exit 136, and finish past Ronda Sur.
The A-30 road is, in fact, one of the busiest in the whole Region and traffic jams are frequent during rush hour.
The contract is valued at 18.49 million euros and comes from backing by the European Union’s Next Generation fund. The funds aim to transform the Region and take action against noise pollution.
Companies have until October 21 to submit their bids. The dates for announcing the successful bids will be on October 28 (administrative bid), November 4 (technical bid) and November 25 (financial bid).
The ministry has stated that the works will last for one year. The action is being taken in order to “mitigate noise and improve the quality of life of the population.”
In certain areas, concrete walls in a T-shape will be installed at variable heights to widen the road shoulder. The walls are used to create a larger surface for the installation of the screen.
Therefore, by this time next year, the residents who live close to the motorway will see a significant reduction in noise pollution.
