ARCHIVED - Mazarron Council budget participation scheme attracts nearly 100 proposals including several from Camposol
Ginés Campillo, Mazarrón councillor for Finance, highlights the good reception of a participatory process that is pioneered in the municipality
The first Participatory Budgets of Mazarrón Council, promoted by the Finance Department, have collected nearly a hundred citizen proposals to improve the municipality. Specifically, there are 97 projects presented through the mazarron.governalia.es platform. As reported by the Councillor of the Treasury, Ginés Campillo, now the participatory process enters its second phase of Project Study and Validation.
It should be noted that among the themes of the projects presented, the Departments that have registered the most proposals are Urban Planning and Infrastructure (25), Coastal Services (11), General Services (8) and Local Police (7). There are also other ideas related to the areas of Tourism, Camposol, Education, Sports, Culture and Historical Heritage, Transport, Environment, Heritage, Social Policy or Animal Welfare.
Camposol residents lodged 11 proposals covering a variety of subjects and departments, it is hoped that many will pass the next Study and Validation phase and make it the final vote.
In this next stage of the Participatory Budgets, which will last until October 3, a Technical Assessment Commission will determine the viability of the different proposals. In addition to technical staff, it is planned that the different political groups represented in the Municipal Council may appoint a councillor to represent them in the validation commission.
Once this phase is finished, the process will culminate with a popular vote on the mazarron.governalia.es platform starting on October 7 and being able to exercise the right to vote for one month. The projects presented in the “Proposals” area can also be consulted on the Mazarrón Council website.
As regards the budget allocation for the first Participatory Budgets of the municipality, the Department of the Treasury has provided €300,000 (€200,000 in investments and €100,000 for activities).
