July 17 to 23 The Perkexick International Percussion Festival in Alhama de Murcia The latest edition of the Perkexick International Percussion Festival is taking place in Alhama de Murcia from 17th to 23^rd July, where the events open to the general public are being held at the Teatro Cine Velasco and the Casa de Cultura, while the percussion camp and course for committed fans and students are hosted by the Finca “El Collado” in the municipality of Mazarrón.

Among those taking part are some of the most important percussionists in Spain (and indeed internationally), with the programme including not only concerts but also educational days and masterclasses.

The programme of events scheduled includes the following:

Friday July 17

20.30: Versus by Perkilusionist – tradition and modernity combine in a show which blends classical and contemporary percussion with new sounds. Venue: Teatro Cine Velasco.

Saturday July 18

21.00: Kunta Kinte – an African percussion show with musicians who specialize in Senegalese tradition, with all its culture, energy and rhythm. Venue: Teatro Cine Velasco.

Sunday July 19

12.00: The final of the international competition with an appearance by the Banda Ateneo Músico Cultural Maestro José Antonio Ayala. Venue: Teatro Cine Velasco.

Monday July 20

21.00: ECOSOPHY by Sauti Dúo – a multi-disciplinary concert featuring not only music but also audiovisual media. Venue: Casa de la Cultura.

Tuesday July 21

21.00: A gathering of percussion groups from Alhama, Totana and Mazarrón. Venue: Casa de la Cultura.

Wednesday July 21

19.00: An accessible “batucada”, a workshop for members of the public to take part! Venue: Casa de la Cultura.

21.00: An evening “batucada” in collaboration with local groups and clubs. Venue: Casa de la Cultura.

Thursday July 22

19.00: The final Proyecto PerkeXick 2026 concert, including a presentation of the project the students and teachers have been working on all week. Venue: Casa de la Cultura.

Alhama de Murcia Tourist Office

Alhama de Murcia Tourist information office is located on the edge of the Plaza de la Constitución, just a few metres away from the underground car park and the Town hall of Alhama de Murcia.

The tourist office offers free guided audiotours in English which take visitors around the historical sites of interest in Alhama. These be loaned at any time, although allow an hour and a half to complete the tour, and when loaning the audio equipment visitors are asked to leave passports or ID cards with the tourist office.

The office also carries a full range of leaflets for the archaeological museum of Los Baños, which is built around the historic spa which gives Alhama its name, and the mountains of Sierra Espuña, which is also an important area within the municipality of Alhama. Areas such as El Berro and Gebas have a number of interesting routes which can be followed and there are several picnic areas and good walking routes within the Sierra Espuña natural park.

The tourist office also carries leaflets for the many cultural events and fiestas which take place in Alhama throughout the year, including Los Mayos, Semana Santa, Christmas,the Romería of La Candelaria and the Auto de los Reyes Magos in El Berro.
