High temperatures followed by midweek storms: Alicante weather forecast September 7-10
Alicante Province is set for two more very hot days, with temperatures reaching 38°C before rain and a sharp drop in temperatures bring a change in conditions

Summer is not quite finished with Alicante yet, with temperatures set to reach the high 30s across parts of the province over the first couple of days this week. Orihuela could reach 38°C on both Monday and Tuesday, while temperatures will also climb into the mid-30s in many other areas.
There is, however, a change on the way. Wednesday should bring lower temperatures along with cloudy spells and the possibility of some light, scattered rain, with conditions becoming cooler again on Thursday.
Here is the daily breakdown for Alicante Province from Monday, September 7 to Thursday, September 10:
Monday September 7
Monday will be mostly clear across Alicante Province, with temperatures remaining high. Orihuela will reach 38°C, while Elche will reach 37°C and Alcoy 36°C. Alicante city and Dénia will both reach 35°C. AEMET is forecasting significantly high temperatures in the southern half of the province.
Winds will be light and variable during the morning before becoming light south-easterly in the afternoon.
Tuesday September 8

Winds will again be light and variable before becoming southerly during the afternoon, with stronger spells possible along the northern coast.
Wednesday September 9
Things will start to look a little different on Wednesday, with cloudy intervals and the possibility of thunderstorms and scattered rain. Temperatures will also take a noticeable drop. Alcoy will reach 29°C and Dénia 30°C, while Alicante city will reach 33°C. Elche and Orihuela will still be warmer at 35°C and 36°C respectively.
Winds will be light and variable across most of the province, with easterly winds becoming more noticeable during the afternoon.
Thursday September 10
Thursday will bring another drop in temperatures, with cloudy spells in the southern half of Alicante Province and the possibility of some light, scattered rain during the first part of the day. Temperatures will be considerably lower than at the start of the week, with Alcoy reaching just 26°C. Alicante city and Elche will both reach 29°C, while Dénia and Orihuela will reach 28°C.
Winds will be north-easterly along the coast, while elsewhere they will be light and variable before generally becoming south-easterly during the afternoon.

After such an intense summer, many people will no doubt be looking forward to cooler temperatures, more comfortable days and those cosy autumn evenings. It may still be a little early to pack away the summer clothes, but the change in the forecast will certainly be welcome for anyone ready for a break from the heat.
