EasyJet cabin crew in Spain to strike this month
The industrial action will impact flights at Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca airports

EasyJet cabin crew have called a strike for June 25, 26 and 27 at the company's bases in Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca. The strike will affect a total of 657 cabin crew and 21 aircraft, and is likely to cause significant delays and even cancellations at the start of the summer period.
In a brief statement, the USO union announced the three-day strike to "achieve equal working conditions and salaries for cabin crew in Spain with those of other European bases where the company operates."
According to its calculations, Spanish cabin crew salaries "are around the minimum wage," notes Pier Luigi Copello, USO general secretary at EasyJet Spain.
"This represents a salary gap ranging from 30% to 200% compared to their European colleagues," he added.
The union is demanding "decent, fair, and equitable" working conditions, in line with other countries, "given the exorbitant increase in the cost of living in Spain, which has reached the same level as Europe."
These demands are part of a deep disagreement over a key aspect, wages, within the negotiations for the Third Collective Bargaining Agreement.
"Unfortunately, these demands have not been met by the company, which has presented insufficient financial offers that are far removed from the country's socioeconomic reality," EasyJet union officials concluded.
