Corvera Airport is having a flier of a year as February passenger numbers surge by nearly 25%
As usual, foreign travellers are driving growth at Murcia International, growing by 24.3% compared to February 2025
Murcia’s Corvera Airport looks to be going from strength to strength, with February passenger numbers coming in at 38,224, a rise of 24.6% compared to the same month last year. To put that into context, the average growth across the wider Aena network in Spain for February was just 2.8%, which means Corvera is comfortably outpacing the national picture by a considerable margin.
Of February's total, 31,230 passengers travelled on international flights, up 24.3% year on year, with the domestic market also performing strongly at 6,937 passengers, a rise of 28.7%. Flight movements at the airport totalled 408 for the month, 21.1% more than in February 2025.
Zooming out to the first two months of the year combined, the numbers are just as encouraging. A total of 76,388 passengers passed through Corvera in January and February, up 25.7% on the same period in 2025, with 855 flight movements recorded across the two months, also 25% ahead of last year.
But 2025 was pretty decent for the travel hub in its own right, with just under 950,000 passengers recorded across the full year, a 4.3% increase on 2024 and slightly ahead of the Aena Spanish network average. Flight operations grew by 7% that year too, and Aena is already forecasting a further 4% increase in total seats for 2026.
With new direct routes to Venice and Lille both launching on June 28 through Volotea, giving the airport direct summer connections to 20 European airports across seven countries, there's plenty more reason to think the momentum will continue to build throughout the year.
