ARCHIVED - Camposol D Gardening and Community Group update and appeal for volunteers
The gardening group still needs volunteers and one position requires management skills - do you fit the bill?
Camposol D Gardening and Community Group has a motto - "determined to make a difference" - and an opportunity has arisen for someone with organisational skills to lead the gardening teams in their work to make Sector D better and greener and make that difference.
The role of Volunteer Coordinator for the 4 gardening teams is important and satisfying. You will lead and direct the work of the 4 teams, working with our team of 16 volunteers. A project is currently under way to develop work schedules and identify improvement projects.
The new, shortly to be implemented Council gardening contract will relieve some of the workload and allow the teams to be focused on areas not included in the contract.
This is a great opportunity for someone to work with the committee to develop the landscape and environment of Sector D and genuinely make a difference. Please contact sectordphone@gmail.com if you have the skillset - Your Sector Needs You!.
“Making a difference” is of course the aim of the Sector D community and over the past few months the gardening team have completed a range of projects and maintenance works including:
Maintenance of the verges, shrubs and pathways along the bottom of Calle Esparaguera and along Calle Frangulas. This area has been maintained by local residents and the team felt they wanted to support this work by tidying up the adjacent areas. Work has also begun on Calle Babinas and what is commonly known as "Peggy's Garden".
Work on the refurbishment of the bin storage areas, similar to the work carried out last September on Calle Esparaguera, has taken longer than expected but it is confirmed that both Calle Babinas and the area in front of what is known as "Pete's Garden" has been completed. This will make the areas easier to clean and keep tidy.
Make a note in your diary for the D Street Clean event on the morning of Wednesday May 10. A list of areas to be cleaned is being compiled and will include the bin storage areas on Calle Nogales, Esparrageura, Babinas, and litter picking in the garden areas. If you have an area that you would like cleaned or want to volunteer, please contact dsecevents@gmail.com.
Another date for your diary is June 16, when Camposol D Gardening and Community Group have organised a fund raising Flamenco Show at La Taberna, Mazarron Country Club. The event is open to all with tickets priced at €22 per person to include a tapas buffet and small drink on arrival. A coach is being arranged to pick up and drop off on Camposol for €5 per person. For more details and to book a place phone 605 184170 or email dsecevents@gmail.com
