Amazon expands its Delivery Today service to 15 Spanish cities, including Murcia and Cartagena

Murcia and Cartagena will be part of the initiative that will allow prime customers to receive products on the same day they place the order

Amazon has announced the expansion of its 'Delivery Today' service to 15 Spanish cities, including Murcia and Cartagena. Now, at no additional cost, customers can get their product delivered on the same day as ordering. The product however, must be equal to or more than 29 euros.

Along with those already mentioned, the new cities that are joining the service are Alicante, Barcelona, Cádiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Elche, Madrid, Málaga, Marbella, Seville, Tarragona, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.

Compared with last year, the company has increased same-day orders in Spain by a third. Globally, the company is on track to make 2024 the year with the fastest deliveries in its history for Prime customers.

According to a study by Ipsos Digital, 70% of Spanish online shoppers value fast and free delivery as one of the most important aspects when shopping online. Therefore, the initiative is very much welcome in Spain and allows customers to receive millions of products in just a few hours, at their home, at collection points and at Amazon Lockers.

Among the most popular items through this delivery service are for example, in Madrid, Instax Mini Film photographic films, while in Barcelona and Zaragoza it is Amazon Fire TV Stick devices. In Seville and Valencia, the most popular product is Dodot brand wetwipes, while in Murcia it is Varta batteries stand out.

To further improve its delivery capabilities, Amazon has invested more than 700 million euros in technology, robotics and AI across Europe between 2019 and the end of 2024.
