120,000 vehicles to be moved and cleared from Valencia after the floods
The Department for the Environment wants to ensure that the cars and vans be removed as quickly as possible
It is estimated that there have been around 120,000 vehicles affected by the floods in Valencia following the DANA, and the operation to remove all the vehicles has now begun.
The work began in designated areas where it seemed most vital. For example, the removal of cars was focused around schools, so children would not be affected for too long by the flood and its damage.
The Department for the Environment aims to guarantee safety and health of the inhabitants of the affected towns around Valencia. Furthermore, the system implemented by the Ministry of the environment seeks to ensure the urgent transfer of these vehicles to places far from urban centres.
The department is also working hard to ensure that people of the community can trace their vehicles and facilitate the necessary procedures for the corresponding appraisal.
Rescue teams from the Guardia Civil located this Monday November 25 in the municipality of Vilamarxant (Valencia), another dead body from the DANA that last October 29 devastated part of the province of Valencia.
This discovery takes the official number of people who have died in the floods caused by the DANA up to 222.
The Som Solidaritat portal, has been specifically designed to facilitate the search and registration of vehicles affected by flooding, providing information on their location and condition.
This measure represents a temporary solution by the Generalitat in order to begin the removal of the vehicles until the Royal Decree Law that the central Government has undertaken to speed up the procedures for appraisal and deregistration for final treatment in authorised plants (CAT) is approved .
