Corvera April passenger figures up almost 10 per cent on last year
The Region of Murcia International Airport has recovered 82.3% of its pre-pandemic traffic
Corvera airport is recovering in leaps and bounds, registering 91,221 passengers in April, which is a respectable 9.6% increase compared to the same month last year.
More importantly, the Region of Murcia base is catching up on its pre-pandemic numbers, welcoming 82.3% of the traffic it did in April 2019.
Of the total number of travellers registered in April, 90,585 corresponded to commercial passengers.
Of these, 84,790 travelled on international flights, 7.1% more than in 2022, and 5,795 caught domestic flights within Spain, more than triple the number before the pandemic and 44.6% more than last year.
As well as passenger numbers, the total number of flights coming and going from Corvera is headed upwards also: 688 planes departed from or touched down in Murcia last month, 3.3% more than in 2022 and an impressive 87% of the flights registered in the same month of 2019.
April is following the positive trend set so far in 2023, since the airport handled 167,984 passengers during the first four months of the year, recovering 72.3% of the traffic experienced pre-pandemic. It’s also a big jump of 12.3% compared to the January-April period last year.
